The power supply PCB. The top relay is the speaker protector, the lower relay is the soft-start switch.

The toroidal power transformer and 22000 uF 80V main filter capacitors.

The heatsinks that carry the output transistors. It is a fully-complementary output arrangement; six output transistors per channel.

The pre-driver modules in stock condition.

The rebuilt pre-driver modules. The picture does not clearly show it, but most of the front-end resistors were replaced with metal-film devices.

To ensure continuity, we soldered directly to the circuit trace the nuts that fasten the pre-driver transistors.

This is what can happen when you rely on a screw for continuity. The picture shows the main power supply rectifiers. Note the arcing that has occurred around the top screw and bottom screw in the picture. Ultimately, we soldered the heads of the screws directly to the rectifier bodies.

Bottom view of the same rectifiers. Note that the arcing also occurred on the bottom of the PCB. Like with the pre-driver transistors, we soldered the nuts to the copper trace. This is not unusual for Sansui amps. We have seen the same phenomenon in Sansui AU-20000 amps.

The heatsink assembly for one channel.
Sansui was a premier manufacturer of high-end audio components that arguably peaked in the mid 1970's. Sansui power amplifiers, integrated amplifiers, receivers, tuners, loudspeakers, etc., are coveted by audiophiles today.
